What’s new in Kiantu for Mac

Skills, meetings that hand back your session, and a nudge to bring work forward

• Skills: say what you know and what your work needs. Type a name on your profile — "Terraform", "GDPR", the name of an internal system — and it becomes a chip; add a level or a note later if you want to. Projects and tasks get a "Needs" section the same way, so "who knows X?" and "what does this project need?" finally have answers. Admins tidy the vocabulary under Settings › Skills, with merge suggestions that never merge on their own.
• A calendar meeting that starts while you are working no longer runs over your session. The running session is parked, the meeting takes over, and when it ends your work resumes on its own — with a per-item "Don't resume this" if you would rather it stayed paused.
• Bring forward now shows how many unfinished items are waiting from earlier days, and how many each window would move, so you notice them before the day fills up.
• Faster first paint: heavy pages load on demand, and the app speaks English and Spanish on the dashboard, composer and status bar.

A way out of every dead end

• Invited to a workspace you never asked to join? The invite screen now offers real choices: accept it, request a fresh invite if it expired, or ignore it and start your own workspace.
• Sign in after your workspace was deleted and Kiantu quietly gives you a fresh one — no more "account deactivated" wall.
• The Dock icon finally looks like a Mac app icon.

Notifications you can hear and see

• A red-dot dock and tab icon when something needs a response — mentions and requests no longer rely on you noticing a number.
• Richer notification sounds, still per event type — and the settings page now previews each one before you commit.
• The Plan page speaks the new pricing plainly: every plan gets the full product, plans differ in size.

Connectors that behave

• Linking GitHub or Google Calendar no longer signs you out — connecting an account and logging in are now separate doors.
• General improvements and fixes.

General improvements

• The update toast now finishes what it starts — no more spinner that never resolves, and it can be dismissed.

A steadier menu bar

• The menu-bar timer stays put instead of jumping as the clock ticks.
• The quick panel can search everything, not just start things.
• Empty states that read as "ready", not "broken" — a fresh plate and a quiet day now look intentional.

Reports grow up

• CSV export, a last-quarter preset, and estimates you can actually reach from the report.
• A Capacity tab and a Time off screen — planned absence finally counts.
• One estimate per plate item: the item is scored, not each sitting.
• Presence sampling dropped from every 30 seconds to every 2 minutes — noticeably lighter on the battery.

Automatic updates, for real this time

• Automatic updates now work. 0.5.1 shipped the update feature but not the signing key behind it, so it never actually found an update — if you are on 0.5.0 or 0.5.1, this one download is the last one. From here the app updates itself.
• Pick a sound per notification — mentions can chime differently from plate assignments, and the choice follows you between devices instead of living in one browser.
• Choosing a goal or project works the same way everywhere — one picker, in the header, the side panel and the plate, instead of three that behaved differently.
• The plate tells you when it is full, and offers to reorganize rather than just refusing.
• An interactive timeline: edit a session’s goal or project straight from the day strip.
• A failed load no longer looks like an empty page — if we cannot reach the server we say so, instead of showing you a blank list that reads as "your work is gone".
• Sign-in now speaks Portuguese and German alongside English and Spanish.
• The usual round of security and reliability work under the hood.

Signed, notarized, and universal

• One universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple — no security warnings.
• Groundwork for automatic updates. The in-app update prompt shipped here, but the update feed behind it did not go live until 0.5.3 — this build cannot update itself.

First public Mac release

• Menu bar timer — the running session and elapsed time at a glance; stop or switch without opening the app.
• Spotlight-style quick capture — one keystroke to start a session or drop something on your plate.
• Native notifications that reach you even when the window is closed.
• True OS-level idle detection — a gentle nudge if a session is still tracking while you’re away.
